Ticket to Ride Map Collection 6: France & Old West

Two maps, one box, and a rule that makes you build the board your opponents will use.

One side is France, the other is the western half of the United States, and they play nothing alike. The France map hands you a country whose railways have not been painted yet. The Old West map gives you three city markers and a frontier to plant them in, with room for six players — the largest table any Ticket to Ride map will seat. Alan R. Moon designed both, Julien Delval and Cyrille Daujean did the art, and Days of Wonder published the pair together in 2017.

France is the one that will annoy your friends. Most track beds on the board start bare, and every time you draw cards you must place a coloured tile two to five carriages long onto an empty bed — which means you decide what colour a route becomes, and anyone at the table can then claim it. Tiles overlap, so laying one closes off every bed it crosses. Old West is crueller in a different way: build a route that connects to a city someone else owns and they take the points, not you. There is also a variant where the first player into Roswell picks up Alvin the Alien, worth ten points to whoever holds him at the end.

Perfect for: The person who has played the base map enough times to have a favourite opening, and has started to find that a problem rather than a comfort.
