1066: Tears to Many Mothers
The Battle of Hastings, fought across a table with cards.
One player takes the Normans, the other the Saxons, and the two decks are genuinely asymmetric — they do not play the same way and are not meant to. It has the feel of a duelling card game like Magic, but everything is in the box and nothing needs collecting.
Tristan Hall's design, and one of the more heavily researched historical card games in print: the characters, events and units are drawn from the actual campaign, with the history explained on the cards themselves.
Thirty to sixty minutes. Plays solo as well as head-to-head.
Perfect for: History readers, and two players who want asymmetry without a collection.
