The Struggle for CATAN
Catan with the board taken away and the arguing left in.
A card game version of Catan that fits in a coat pocket and finishes in half an hour. You still gather the five resources, still build roads, settlements and cities, still chase victory points - it is all there, just compressed into cards and played much faster than the boxed game manages.
Because there is no board to spread out, the interaction is sharper rather than softer: knights and other action cards let you interfere with opponents directly, and with only thirty minutes on the clock nobody has time to build quietly in a corner. A good answer to the Catan problem of wanting a game but not wanting two hours of one.
Perfect for: Catan players on a train, in a pub, or with exactly thirty minutes before dinner.
