The Lord of the Rings: Adventure to Mount Doom
Getting Frodo to Mordor, which as anyone who has read the book knows is mostly about not being seen.
A fully co-operative game in which the table plays the Fellowship and the object is to move Frodo across Middle-earth to Mount Doom without the Ring's pull, or the Nazgûl, catching up first. Kosmos have kept the footprint small — this is a fifty-minute game, not a three-hour epic — and put the weight into the tension of the journey rather than the size of the box.
The Ring is the pressure: carrying it makes progress possible and also makes Frodo easier to find, so the group is constantly deciding how much risk to take for how much ground. Plays one to four, and it is one of the better solo co-ops because the decisions do not collapse when there is only one person making them.
Perfect for: anyone who has bounced off the enormous Lord of the Rings games and would still like to do the walk.
1–4 players | About 50 minutes | Age 10+
