The Chameleon (14+ Years)
The hard part is not being the Chameleon. It is being innocent and sounding exactly like one.
Each round opens with a Topic Card: sixteen related words laid out in a four-by-four grid — animals, countries, films, food. Two dice are rolled, and the coordinates they produce point everyone to one word on that grid. Everyone except the Chameleon, who is staring at the same sixteen words with no idea which of them matters. Designed by Rikki Tahta for Big Potato Games.
Each player then says a single word connected to the secret one. Too vague and the table starts eyeing you; too precise and you have handed the Chameleon the answer outright. That squeeze is the whole game. The Chameleon has two jobs running at once — blend in, and work out which of the sixteen words everyone is circling — before a vote decides who the table suspects. Fifteen minutes, and BoardGameGeek's players rate it best at six or seven.
Perfect for: Anyone who has ever answered a question they did not understand and got away with it, and the friend who has never once got away with it.
