Tea Garden
Six grades of tea, and the good stuff only happens if you wait.
The Yunnan region of China, where you own a tea garden and fully intend to own several more, spreading along a serene river valley. Tea leaves are the entire economy — six grades of quality, each region producing a different one, and fresh green leaves that ferment into brown ones worth considerably more. Tomáš Holek designed it for Albi.
Despite the setting it is not a worker-placement game: your engine is a deck of cards, and each round you orchestrate up to four main actions with it. Card strength is what decides the outcome — the higher the card, the better the effect — so the question is never simply which action to take but how much you can afford to spend achieving it. Meanwhile the fermentation quietly improves whatever you left maturing. Ninety minutes to two hours, and properly mid-heavy.
Perfect for: Anyone who has bought something expensive and then deliberately not opened it yet.
2–4 players | 90–120 minutes | Age 12+
