An expansion for Splendor Duel that introduces counterfeit gems to the board — tokens that behave exactly like the real thing right up until the moment they don't. In a two-player game as tight and arithmetical as Splendor Duel, that's a meaningful piece of grit in the machine.

What it adds, really, is doubt. The base game is a clean optimisation puzzle where both players can generally see what the other is building towards. Counterfeits mean you can no longer entirely trust what's in front of you, and the player who reads the board best stops being automatically the player who wins. It adds no meaningful setup time and slots into the base box.

Requires the Splendor Duel base game to play.

Perfect for: Couples who've played Splendor Duel enough times that the openings have started to repeat themselves.
