A police box, because in 1963 the budget did not stretch to anything else.

The chameleon circuit breaking was a production constraint dressed up as a plot point, and it turned out to be the best accident in the show's history. Real police boxes vanished from British streets decades ago; this one outlived all of them and is now more recognisable than the thing it was copying. Sixty years of a prop that was only ever meant to be temporary.

A rewarding build because it is essentially architecture: four panelled sides, a roof, a lamp, and everything has to be square or it looks wrong immediately. Laser-cut stainless steel, tab-and-slot assembly, no glue or paint. The window frames and the door detail are finer than they look on the box. Tweezers recommended. Finishes in bare steel on a stand.
