A gambling game where the house is other people, which is considerably worse.

Rudiger Dorn's 2012 design was nominated for the Spiel des Jahres and remains the cleanest dice game Ravensburger publish. Six casinos, a stack of banknotes laid out in front of each one, and eight large chunky dice per player. The theme is thin and completely honest about being thin: you are trying to end up the majority owner of a casino at the moment the money gets handed out.

Roll all your dice, choose one number, and commit every die showing that number to the matching casino. Then roll whatever you have left and do it again. The trap is the tie-break rule, because matched dice cancel each other out entirely, so pouring five dice into a casino that somebody else also wants can leave you both with precisely nothing. Games run about half an hour, the full ruleset is roughly three sentences, and the reads on the other players go a great deal deeper than the component list suggests.

Perfect for: Anyone who insists that dice games are all luck. Let them go first.
