Goats and Goblins

You went in for the goats. You will come out with whatever you can carry.

The goats have escaped into a treacherous cave again and are bleating for help, so you and your fellow goblin herders head down after them — and then spot the gold, the gems and the trinkets in the shafts below. The plan changes accordingly. Sam Stockton designed it for B.A. Games.

It is push-your-luck, and refreshingly honest about being so. You take turns leading expeditions down after treasure, goats and goblins, and the deeper you go the better the haul gets, right up until the cave-ins start. Too many of those and you drop your treasure as you flee, leaving it lying unguarded for the saboteurs to help themselves to. Twenty to thirty minutes, playable from eight, and it seats up to six.

Perfect for: Families who enjoy watching somebody go one chamber too far.
