Fluxx: Pirate
Avast, ye Fluxxies. The rules are what we say they are.
Standard Fluxx starts with one rule and spirals magnificently from there. Pirate Fluxx does the same thing, except now there are pirates involved — and that makes everything at least 40% more chaotic and considerably more fun.
The pirate twist
Pirate Fluxx was one of the first themed Fluxx editions to introduce Surprise cards — cards you can play at any time, including during other players' turns — and it leans heavily into the steal-and-plunder mechanics that suit the theme perfectly. There's a high number of take-that interactions in this version, which makes sense given that you're all playing pirates who've decided to ignore conventional social contracts. Collect Keeper cards (treasure, ships, fellow pirates) that match the current Goal, try to win before someone steals your best card right out from under you.
Who is this for
Anyone who enjoys their card games with maximum player interaction and minimum predictability. Groups who want a game where every turn is a genuine surprise. People who specifically enjoy the moment when someone plays a card and four other players groan simultaneously.
