Finspan
Wingspan, considerably further down.
You are a marine researcher observing whatever can be found in the colourful Sunlight Zone, the ghostly Twilight Zone and the pitch-black Midnight Zone. David Gordon and Michael O'Connell designed it for Stonemaier Games, and it sits in the same family as Wingspan without simply repeating it.
Four weeks, and three dive sites that each specialise in a different part of the work: growing your collection of fish, discovering freshly laid eggs, and hatching those eggs into young before consolidating the young into schools. That chain is the engine — an egg is only worth what you eventually turn it into. Points come from fish, eggs, young, schools and achievements, so a narrow strategy leaves obvious money on the table. Forty-five to sixty minutes.
Perfect for: People who have watched a deep-sea documentary at one in the morning and regretted none of it.
