Dixit
Describe the picture. But not too well.
Dixit is a storytelling game built on gorgeous, dreamlike illustrations. The active player gives a clue for one of their cards — a word, a phrase, a hum — and everyone else submits a card from their own hand they think matches. All the submitted cards get shuffled and revealed, and everyone votes on which one was the original.
Here's the trick: if everybody guesses your card, you score nothing. Be too obvious and you lose; be too obscure and you lose. The sweet spot — a clue just ambiguous enough to trick some but not all — is where the game lives, and it's different every single round.
Spiel des Jahres winner, and one of the easiest games to teach a table that's never played anything like it.
