The finishes are the same ones Chessex use across the full-size range, so a Borealis mini sits happily alongside a Borealis standard without looking like a different product.

Smaller dice are a genuine trade-off rather than simply a cheaper option. They roll faster and settle sooner, which is useful on a crowded table, and the numbers are correspondingly smaller to read across one. Most people who own a set own them as the travelling dice rather than the everyday ones — kept in the bag with a folded character sheet for games that happen somewhere other than the usual table.
