Boggle, but the grid is now five by five and you have the same ninety seconds.

Twenty-five letter cubes instead of sixteen, which sounds like a modest change and absolutely is not. The larger grid produces far longer words — six, seven and eight letters become findable rather than lucky — and the scoring rewards them heavily, so the whole texture of the game shifts from speed to depth.

Same rules otherwise: join adjacent letters, write down everything you find, cross off anything somebody else also found. This is the Winning Moves edition, which is the version most people mean when they say they prefer Big Boggle to the original. It plays alongside regular Boggle rather than replacing it, and households that own both tend to use them for different moods.

Perfect for: People who have solved regular Boggle to the point of boredom, and anyone who finds four-letter words beneath them.
