Uluru is a sandstone inselberg rising about 348 metres out of the southern Northern Territory, and most of it is still underground. It is sacred to the Anangu, it changes colour convincingly through the day, and it is one of the few Australian subjects that genuinely earns the scale of a 1000 piece puzzle. Part of Ravensburger's Australian range, which is a small and slightly unpredictable line, so titles come and go.

The honest warning with any rock-and-sky subject is that the graduated passages are where the time goes. The stone reads as one colour from across the room and resolves into a dozen once you are sorting it, and open sky is open sky. Ravensburger cut every piece individually and their Softclick fit keeps assembled sections together when you move them, which is worth a lot on a puzzle you will be nudging around for a while. Finished it measures 70 by 50 centimetres.
