Atlantis Rising is cooperative worker placement with a rising water problem: send your Atlanteans out to gather resources and build a cosmic gate to escape, while the flood swallows the very board spaces you're standing on. Every turn the island shrinks; every decision gets more desperate.

It scales beautifully from solo up to a very crowded seven players, and the shrinking-board tension is unlike anything else on the co-op shelf.
