A Gest of Robin Hood (2nd Printing)
Two players, Sherwood, and a very asymmetric argument about tax.
Fred Serval's two-player entry in GMT's COIN system, stripped down to its essentials. One player is Robin Hood, running a small band that cannot win a straight fight and therefore does not have one. The other is the Sheriff of Nottingham, with soldiers, garrisons and the entirely reasonable expectation that order will be restored.
The Robin player robs, recruits and melts back into the forest; the Sheriff marches, builds and tries to make the countryside expensive to hide in. Neither side is playing the same game, which is the whole appeal of the COIN series and why this is the easiest way into it - the full games run four factions and several hours, and this one runs two and about an hour. GMT production throughout.
Perfect for: A pair who want a proper wargame without either of them having to learn a proper wargame.
