Ticket to Ride Rails & Sails
Ticket to Ride, but now you can also go by boat.
The biggest box in the series, and a genuinely different game once it's open. Two enormous double-sided boards — the Great Lakes on one side, the entire world on the other — and a second deck of ship cards sitting alongside the familiar trains. Routes now run over water as well as land, which means the map opens up in ways the original never allowed.
The interesting decision is conversion. You can trade trains for ships and back again mid-game, at a cost, which turns a bad hand into a recoverable one and makes hoarding a genuine strategy rather than a mistake. It plays longer and heavier than the standard editions — nearer two hours than one — and it's a base game, so nothing else is required to play.
Perfect for: Families who've worn the Europe map smooth, and anyone who wants the series at its most ambitious rather than its most approachable.
