Alex Butler was seven when he made this and his parents Kickstarted it, at which point it quietly became one of the best-selling card games in the world. You are building the most valuable, most disgusting meal you can - and everybody else is playing action cards to ruin it.

The rules take about a minute. Play food cards into your meal, play action cards to steal, swap or sabotage, and when the deck runs out the highest-value plate wins. It is chaotic rather than strategic and makes no pretence otherwise, which is the correct call for a game aimed squarely at a seven-year-old's sense of humour and, as it turns out, most adults'.

Perfect for: Family game nights where somebody small needs to be able to win on merit.
