The Infinity Stones are scattered across the Multiverse and Thanos is working steadily towards the obvious conclusion. You assemble a team from the heroes and villains available, using the essence of the stones to recruit them. Marc André's Splendor engine for Space Cowboys, reskinned properly rather than merely restickered.

Take tokens, spend tokens to recruit characters, and every character you bring in leaves a permanent bonus behind that makes the next recruitment cheaper. That compounding discount is the whole game, here as in the original. Recruits carry Infinity Points and open up locations to acquire, and you are building towards having enough characters, power and points to take on Thanos before anybody else manages it. Half an hour.
