Slay the Spire The Board Game
One more run, except this time it is on the table.
Contention Games' adaptation of the deck-building roguelike, and a faithful one. Each player takes a character with their own starting deck and their own pool of unique cards, and you climb the Spire together through combats, campfires, shops and the events in between. The card art and iconography come straight across from the video game, so anyone who has played it will recognise what they are holding immediately.
It is co-operative rather than competitive — you climb together and you lose together. After each fight you add cards, and the deck you assemble is the whole game: every card you take is also a card diluting the draws you already liked. Relics stack into combinations that crack a run wide open if you find the right two. Anywhere from 30 to 150 minutes depending on how far up you get, and dying partway is the intended experience rather than a failure.
Perfect for: Anyone who has looked at the clock at 2am and said "one more, then bed" out loud, to nobody in particular.
1–4 players | 30–150 minutes | Age 12+
