Feudal Japan, with the gods walking among the clans. Rising Sun is built around negotiation as much as warfare — alliances are made openly at the start of each season, and betraying one is entirely legal, occasionally rewarding, and never forgotten.

From the same designer, artist and studio as Blood Rage, and it shows: the miniatures are enormous, the board is beautiful, and the decisions are meaner than the presentation suggests. Combat is resolved by simultaneous bidding rather than dice, so losing a battle is always your own fault, never the dice's. Recruit monsters, win the favour of the Kami, and figure out exactly how much of your word you're willing to break.
