A run of calamities has left civilisation in pieces, and what is going back up is being built in step with nature rather than over the top of it. Scotland lies in ruins, the old clans have started again, and you lead one of them, competing for control of the land by putting its castles back up. Mighty Boards supplied the world; Reiner Knizia supplied the arithmetic.

It is a tile-laying game, and Knizia-plain about it: each turn you draw a tile from your own supply and place it on the board, and that is your turn. What gives it teeth is that the tiles are your clan's contribution while the board is shared, so the placement that suits you is usually the one that inconveniences somebody else. It teaches in five minutes and finishes inside the hour, which puts it in the small category of games you can open cold with people who insist they do not like board games.
