Line of Fire: Burnt Moon
Undaunted, stripped to two players and half an hour.
A group of hackers calling themselves POSIWID intend to seize the moon Io and hold the entire Jovian power grid to ransom. The corporation that built those facilities has other ideas. Neither side sends people — both sides send remotely operated robots, which is a neat way of making a war game where the stakes are enormous and the casualties are hardware.
David Thompson and Trevor Benjamin have taken the deck-building engine that made the Undaunted series so well regarded and fused it with lane battling, so instead of a map you have fronts, and instead of manoeuvring you're deciding where to commit. Cards you lose are gone from your deck, which means every exchange costs you future options as well as present ground. Standalone — you don't need Undaunted 2200: Callisto or anything else.
Perfect for: Two players who want a war game that finishes inside a lunch break.
