Let's Go! To Japan

A holiday you plan meticulously and then have to live with.

You are building an itinerary for a trip to Japan, bouncing between Tokyo and Kyoto and working out which of the unmissable attractions are actually worth the day they cost. Josh Wood designed it for AEG, and the activity cards are illustrated by artists based in Japan, which is why it does not look like every other game about travelling.

Thirteen rounds of drawing activity cards and placing them into particular days, balancing your resources as you go and puzzling out which combination gets you the most out of the trip. Then comes the last round, which is the trip itself: you finally go, activating each card you planned, and discover whether the schedule you built actually holds together. Forty-five to sixty minutes, and quick to teach.
