Golden Hour at Eltz Castle 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle
Owned by the same family for over 850 years and never once destroyed, which for a German castle is remarkable.
Burg Eltz sits on a rock in a valley above the Moselle, and the same family have held it since the twelfth century across thirty-odd generations. It survived the wars that flattened almost every comparable castle in the region, largely through a mixture of luck and one ancestor being on the right side at the right moment. The towers were built piecemeal over centuries, which is why it looks less designed than grown.
Shot at golden hour, so the stonework carries warm light on one side and deep shade on the other, and the surrounding forest does most of the difficult work. Clementoni HQ Compact.
Perfect for: Anyone who has a folder of European castles they intend to visit one day.
