A newspaper is a business, which is why the ads go in first.

Thistleville is the world's most bustling little town, and keeping up with it is your problem — who won what, who got their chance, and whether you have the right photograph to run alongside any of it. Peter McPherson designed it; Ian O'Toole drew the woodland world it takes place in.

Everybody grabs tiles at the same time, stacking stories, photographs and advertisements on their desk until they reckon they have what the page needs. Then you call "Layout" and start placing — centrepieces, articles, photos, ads — and "Print" when you want to be first off the press. The judgement is all up front: take too few tiles and the paper has holes in it, take too many and something has to be cut. Three hectic days, fifteen to thirty minutes, and it stretches to six players.
