Sydney gets to run the first major fireworks display of the new year, and has never once been modest about it. The Harbour Bridge and the Opera House sitting under a sky full of detonations is about as recognisable as Australian imagery gets, and it is a good deal easier to appreciate from a dining table than from a headland at eleven at night surrounded by strangers. Night scenes are their own kind of difficulty. Large dark passages give you very little colour to sort by, and the fireworks themselves are bright, scattered and short on repeated pattern, so the two halves of the puzzle fail you in opposite directions. Ravensburger cut every piece individually, which keeps shape usable when colour is not, and their Softclick fit means a completed section survives being moved. Finished it measures 70 by 50 centimetres.
