Nine inches folded, magnetic throughout, and the reason it exists is simple: an ordinary travel set is fine until the train brakes. Magnets hold every piece to its square, so the position stays put through turbulence, a pothole, or somebody's knee. Fold it shut and the pieces stay inside their recesses rather than rattling loose.

Dal Rossi build these to the same standard as their larger sets, which mostly shows in the hinge and the catch — the two things that fail first on cheap travel boards. The pieces are small by necessity but properly shaped rather than moulded flat, so a game on this doesn't feel like a compromise so much as a smaller version of the real thing.
