Cascadia, but the map now has a third dimension.

A standalone follow-up rather than an expansion — you don't need the original to play this one. Randy Flynn and the Flatout Games collective have taken the tile-and-token puzzle that made Cascadia a Spiel des Jahres winner and added elevation, so tiles now stack on top of one another and the landscape you're building genuinely rises off the table. Beth Sobel's artwork does the rest.

The stacking is the whole design, not a gimmick. Placing a tile higher covers something you carefully arranged three turns ago, so every move is a small argument with your past self about whether that wildlife corridor was worth keeping. It stays as calm and unaggressive as the original — nobody can do anything to your board but you — while asking noticeably harder spatial questions.

Perfect for: Households who wore out Cascadia and want the same evening back with sharper teeth.
